Aloha all.
I wish to take this opportunity to let you all know that the'Paradise Panteras' will be no longer be an official chapter of the Pantera Owners Club of America aka POCA as of March 1, 2011. The current membership will likely be absorbed an existing chapter that claims Hawaii as within their territorial boundary (most likely the Pantera Club of Northern California chapter).
This website will still be maintained for local content and any POCA member in Hawaii who wishes to provide content such as De Tomaso cars/parts for sale or local car culture action in the islands. So it's local style - nothing formal, just enjoying the company of like minded individuals sharing the love for cars. In our case, De Tomaso cars.
Mahalo all for your support,
Bayani Panis
Chapter President - Paradise Panteras
The following are few updates/announcements of recent and upcoming events :
POCA announced that the Fun Rally will be held again in Reno for 2011. The track event is also on again, having been cancelled for the 2010 Fun Rally due to ownership changes of the Fernley track. See the official POCA News FOR details on the signing up for the convention as well as the track event. There were discussions of trying to organize a Hawaii contingent with possibly shipping participant cars out to the west coast but logistics dictate we should be discussing this possibility for the 2012 year. Any member considering attendance for 2011 drop me a note.
Tony DiGiovanna, President of Panteras of New Jersey, extented an invitation to all POCA members to this years Pocono's event being held on the Memorial Day weekend. If you happen to be in the east coast that week, definitely add this event to your punch list of things to do.
The Exoticar Group on Oahu gathered at Podium Raceway in March. Thanks to Eric for setting this all up. Thirty people attended this first and very successful event. Podium Raceway in Kapolei is fast becoming a popular attraction amongst those with the need for speed. This indoor Karting track allows for some release of those pent up racing urges in a safe environment. If you are on Oahu, come check it out. It's a whole lot of fun. Check out some pictures in the events photos page of previous gatherings held there.
The annual Mustang Madness all Ford show at Makenna's Windward Ford in Kailua was held, organized by the Aloha Mustangs and Shelby Club. The event, to all Ford-powered vehicles, was a great success again with the donations going to the Ronald McDonal House. I was very happy to receive first place in my class for my '72 Pantera. See pictures of the event in the events photos page.
Rons Performance of Honolulu held a cruise night at their store May 14th. Donations of canned goods went to local food bank and the event was well attended. Pictures on the events photos page.
Upcoming events include a gathering of the local exotics group a JN Exotics in Honolulu on Sunday, May 22nd. RSVP to Eric if you plan on going as this is a private event and he needs to give JN a headcount. They will have refreshments and a viewing of the F1 race in Spain held earlier in the day.
That's it for now. Send in your stories and updates!
Aloha,
Bayani
